Rick Majerus

Rick Majerus

The last stop of Rick Majerus', the lone concession to health, poverty was the coach of the Turks stationed at each corner of the court practice.

Nearly anytime he needed a breather. Still close enough to jump some practical help with the right attitude, or a quick overview to guide you.

The warm, basketball-obsessed coach, who led Utah to the 1998 NCAA finals and only one losing season in four schools 25 years, died Saturday. He was the 64th

Utah industrialist Jon Huntsman, the gym, my old friend, confirmed the Communication from The Salt Lake Tribune that Majerus died of heart failure in a hospital in Los Angeles. The coach was in the hospital for several months.

The players were Majerus, who got the start as an assistant under Al McGuire at Marquette as a coach who demanded, and perhaps a bit unusual times, but always honest. Majerus was known for assembling networks of international flair, and St. Louis were the last team players in Australia and New Zealand.
